Community garden grant application deadline is approaching.

If you always wanted to start a community garden, but don't have the money or tools, Fiskars, a gardening tool company, is doing an awesome annual grant project called Project Orange Thumb, which is a program that supplies community gardening grants to applicant groups of individuals who are concerned with neighborhood gardening for sustainable agriculture and beautification of the local area.

Anyone who is interested in starting a garden in their community can apply for the 2009 garden grant cycle of Project Orange Thumb. The Project Orange Thumb community grants will entail up to $1000 in green products, plus up to $1,500 in Fiskars company quality gardening tools.

This is the 6th year of the Project Orange Thumb grant project, and the program has already provided over 100 community groups with more than $300,000 that has allowed them to grow, create and develop their very own community gardens in their own local neighborhoods.

The application deadline for Project Orange Thumb for the year of 2009 is coming up fast, so hurry and get your application in if you have a group interested in community gardening. The application period deadline for this year's Project Orange Thumb grant is Febuary 17, 2009. Remember that only group applications are considered for the grant, and that individuals cannot participate alone, as this is not a contest or sweepstakes. Recipients of the grant will be notified by the end of March. Get applying and good luck!
